Village remembers Hobson’s legacy

MECHANICSBURG – Twenty-five years ago, I had the honor and privilege of working with Congressman Dave Hobson when he assisted me in securing federal funding to purchase a much-needed ambulance for our small rural community of Mechanicsburg, Ohio.

It was in September of 1999 that the Mechanicsburg EMS was among recipients of federal funding secured by Congressman Hobson to purchase the vehicle. This is a photo copy of a newspaper clipping that appeared on the front page of the Urbana Daily Citizen on Sept. 2, 1999.

We had just taken delivery of our new ambulance that day. Congressman Hobson played an instrumental role in securing federal funding to assist the village of Mechanicsburg in the acquisition of a new and much-needed EMS ambulance.

At the time of this Urbana Daily Citizen article’s publication, Congressman Hobson represented the Ohio 7th congressional district which included Mechanicsburg and all of Champaign County.

Hobson passed away last week.

Thank you Congressman Hobson.

Steve Castle of Mechanicsburg submitted this to Legacy.com as a tribute on Congressman Dave Hobson’s obituary notice.
