Eatly coming to Urbana

A new restaurant is set to open soon in downtown Urbana at the site of the previous Miami Street Tavern.

Eatly, which was born as a pandemic pop-up outdoor eatery in north Springfield, has opted to move its Italian and American restaurant offerings to an all-season location on Miami Street.

The restaurant will feature fresh quality Italian-themed family recipes showcasing seasonal fare, desserts, and drinks, prepared and served in a fun upscale visual space. It will have a combination of both American and Italian comfort-style food, according to owner Tom Thompson.

Eatly’s social media page posted the following statement this week: “Who would have known we would grow into a full restaurant/bar? Thank you everyone for your continued support! We couldn’t have done it without you! Now the fun begins with our transformation for fun, friends, food, and drinks from 116 Miami Street, Urbana, Ohio 43078. We are so honored to be a part of a great community. Thank you for all your warm welcomes. Stay tuned for updates.”

The restaurant’s name Eatly is inspired by Thompson’s Sicilian roots and the related colloquial pronunciation of the country name of Italy.

Employment applications are now being accepted for interviews to be conducted Wednesday, Oct 9 and Thursday, Oct. 10 at the Urbana location. Positions open include professional bartender/mixologist, servers, kitchen help and a bakery attendant.
