Jonathan Alder stuns Urbana; Graham falls

Visiting Jonathan Alder spoiled Urbana’s homecoming by beating the previously-undefeated Hillclimbers, 21-7, in rainy CBC/KTD football Friday night.

On Urbana’s second possession of the game, a 29-yard pass from Grady Lantz to Bizz Cain led to an Austin Hill one-yard touchdown run which gave the Hillclimbers a 7-0 lead.

Jonathan Alder returned the ensuing kickoff 75 yards for a TD to make it 7-7 with three minutes remaining in the first quarter.

On the Hillclimbers’ next possession, they turned it over on downs at the Jonathan Alder 13.

The first quarter ended with the score tied, 7-7.

JA put together a long scoring drive late in the second quarter that culminated on a four-yard touchdown pass to make it 14-7 at the half.

On the second play of the third quarter, JA’s Mason Curtis scored on a 66-yard run to give the visitors a 21-7 lead.

As the third quarter ended, Urbana was facing a fourth down at the JA 2.

UHS couldn’t convert and turned it over on downs at the 1.

JA (4-2, 1-0) managed to get out of the hole by converting third and six at the 5 with a 19-yard run.

Late in the fourth quarter, Urbana drove to the JA 32 but turned it over on downs.

Lantz completed 7 0f 15 pass attempts for 94 yards with an interception. and he rushed for 73 yards on 14 carries

The Hillclimbers had 285 total yards.

Urbana (5-1, 0-1) plays at Kenton Ridge next Friday night.

Indian Lake 13, Graham 7

LEWISTOWN – Indian Lake scored a touchdown in overtime to hold off Graham, 13-7, in CBC/MRD football Friday night.

The Falcons (0-6, 0-1) host Shawnee next Friday night.
