Indians claim sectional title in boys golf

Mechanicsburg’s William Reiser won the individual title with a 74 and the Indians prevailed as a team at the Central District Division III boys golf sectional at Darby Creek on Tuesday.

The Indians had a team score of 316 and Fairfield Christian Academy was second with a 329.

For the Indians, Conner Eyink had a 76, Anderson Reiser an 81, Quinn Rockenbaugh an 85 and Ozzy Roach an 85.

“The boys struggled after coming in for 45 minutes due to lightning after 13 holes,” said MHS Coach Chad Owens. “Anderson was sick at the break and went 5 over on his last 3 holes and Ozzy had a triple bogey on his last hole.”

The Indians advance to play at the district tournament at Turnberry Golf Club next Wednesday.

The Mechanicsburg girls golf team finished 7th out of 13 squads at the Central District sectional on Monday.

For the Indians, Mylee DeLong had a 110.
