ST. PARIS – On Saturday, June 22, St. Paris resident Zach Thorsky and his training partner, Connor Super of Troy, cycled a 120-mile loop beginning in St Paris and continuing through Urbana, Springfield, Xenia, Dayton, Troy, Piqua and back to St. Paris.

The Friends of the Pony Wagon Bike Trail realized over $1,000 in donations generated by this ride. These funds will be used to help build the first leg of the trail in St. Paris.

Despite temperatures of 93 degrees as well as headwinds and a flat tire, the duo managed to average 20 miles an hour to complete their loop.

Thorsky is a member of the Miami Valley Mountain Biking Association as well as the U.S. Air Force, and is training for an upcoming race at John Bryan State Park later this month. He is being sponsored by Simple Carb Endurance as well as Cyclotherapy of Springfield, which aided the duo by helping repair Super’s flat tire.

Due to the high heat and humidity, the duo took a quick dip in the Great Miami River in Troy to cool down and still managed to complete the trek in a little over 6 hours, and were welcomed back with police and fire department escorts by members of the community and Friends of the Pony Wagon Bike Trail.
