WL-S teams claim district cross country titles

The West Liberty-Salem boys cross country team claimed the Division II district title on Saturday, the program’s third straight and the 18th district title overall. This marks the team’s first D-II district title.

WL-S had 38 points and Versailles was second with 60.

Placing for the Tigers were Caleb Larson 2nd 15:54.3, Asher Knox 5th 16:11.8, Dylan King 6th 16:29.6, Brayan Gullett 12th 16:47.4, Asher Cole 13th 16:53.3, Troy Bradley 21st 17:10.7 and Brevin Louden 32nd 17:26.5.

“Winning the district championship against a talented field is a testament to the program’s dedication and work ethic,” said WL-S Coach Mike Louden.

The WL-S girls cross country team won its eighth straight Division II district title on Saturday.

Placing for the Tigers were Malia Miller 3rd 19:04.37, Addi Wallen 8th 20:05.55, Gwen McCollough 10th 20:18.97, Isla Leichty 27th 20:56.17, Mariska Smith 33rd 21:11.77 and Bella Hughes 47th 22:04.83.

“These girls continue to achieve and carry on the Big Orange tradition of success,” said WL-S Coach Aaron Lauck. “Although this was not our best team race, we were able to fight and bring home a district title.”
