Tigers, Indians prevail in football

NORTH LEWISBURG – Nick Shifflet passed for 206 yards and four touchdowns as WL-S knocked off Triad, 49-8, in OHC football Friday night.

Josh Wilcoxon added 106 yards rushing and three TDs for the Tigers, who built up a 35-8 lead at the half.

Jack Bahan had two touchdown receptions and Jacob Evans and Lincoln Henderson each had one.

In the second quarter for Triad, Awesom Mitchell scored on a three-yard run and added a two-point conversion run.

WL-S had 340 total yards compared to 150 for Triad.

Next Friday night, the Tigers (8-1, 4-0) – who have already earned a playoff berth in Division V and could host a first-round game – host Fairbanks and the Cardinals (1-8, 0-4) play at Mechanicsburg.

M’burg 35, Northeastern 18

SPRINGFIELD – Mechanicsburg defeated Northeastern, 35-18, in OHC football Friday night.

Mechanicsburg led 14-12 at the half.

The Jets went ahead, 18-14, early in the third quarter but Mechanicsburg soon took a 21-18 lead.

By early in the fourth quarter, the Indians had extended their lead to 28-18.

An interception by Mechanicsburg’s Eli Wilson late in the game helped preserve the victory.

The Indians added another TD moments later.

Mechanicsburg (6-3, 2-2), which has likely already wrapped up a playoff berth in Division VI, hosts Triad next Friday night.
