The Champaign County Historical Society recently began the next phase of improvements to the Historical Society Museum: repairing and returning to their original appearance six windows, which are currently covered, at the front of the museum.

The work is being completed by contractor Luther Cornelison – to give the museum, at 809 East Lawn Ave., Urbana – a more inviting look. This work follows recent upgrades to landscaping in front of the museum.

The Historical Society will soon announce more extensive work and purchases to upgrade the museum’s exhibits. The improvements are being funded by a grant from the Ohio Facilities Construction Commission and money raised in the Historical Society’s capital campaign.

About the Champaign County Historical Society

Originally established in 1934, the museum first housed its collection at the former location of the Champaign County Library on West Market Street, and then moved to the Nutwood Barn, south of Grimes Field on North Main Street.

The Historical Society is open to the public 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday through Friday and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday.
