Indians, Tigers, Cardinals earn wins in football

MECHANICSBURG – Quarterbacks Conley Bogard and Conner Eyink combined to go 21 of 28 for 337 yards and 2 touchdowns as Mechanicsburg beat Graham, 34-7, in non-league football Friday night.

Five different Indians scored – Ronnie Thomas, Colton Walborn, Denver Cauldill rushing and Austin Haynes and Eli Wilson receiving.

On defense for Mechanicsburg, Thomas had a sack and Wilson had an interception.

Bogard completed 14 of 19 pass attempts for 240 yards and Haynes had six receptions for 130 yards.

This Friday night, the Falcons (0-2) play at Brookville and the Indians (1-1) play at Greenon.

WL-S 31, Ben Logan 21

WEST LIBERTY – Josh Wilcoxon rushed for 123 yards and two touchdowns as WL-S defeated Ben Logan, 31-21, in non-league football Friday night.

Tiger quarterback Nick Shifflet rushed for 182 yards and a TD.

The score was tied, 7-7, at the end of the first quarter and WL-S led, 21-14, at the half.

For the Tigers, Gideon Cole had a 22-yard field goal in the third quarter and Shifflet scored on a three-yard run in the fourth quarter.

WL-S had 415 total yards compared to 272 for the Raiders (0-2).

The Tigers (2-0) host Greeneview this Friday night.

Triad 19, Bucyrus 12

NORTH LEWISBURG – Triad held off Bethel, 19-12, in non-league football Friday night.

The Cardinals led, 6-0, at the end of the first quarter and the score was tied, 6-6, at halftime.

Triad led, 13-12, at the end of the third quarter.

The Cardinals (1-1) host Southeastern this Friday night.

Mechanicsburg defeated Triad, 24-20, in junior high football.

Fairbanks beat West Liberty-Salem, 24-6, in junior high football.

For the Tigers, Brandel Sullivan threw a touchdown pass to Jack Harman and Sullivan had 2 interceptions. Logan Behlmer also had an interception and Grant Krabill had a fumble recovery.
