There are adults in your area who don’t have access to reliable transportation for medical appointments, errands, or even jobs.

But you may be able to help.

RideConnect is Catholic Social Services’ volunteer driving program designed to help bridge transportation gaps in our communities. You can become a RideConnect volunteer if you have a good driving record, a reliable vehicle, a valid Ohio driver’s license, and proof of insurance.

Once you complete our training, you will be ready to start providing rides based on your availability.

Since the program began in July 2021, volunteers have provided over 3,000 rides, covering over 82,000 miles. Drivers are compensated for mileage.

Information sessions for those who would like to learn more about getting involved will be held over the next few weeks in various locations.

In Champaign County, sessions will be held on Thursday, Aug. 15 from 10-11 a.m. at the Champaign County Library at 1060 Scioto Street in Urbana, and from 1-2 p.m. at the St. Paris Library at 127 E. Main Street in St. Paris.

On Tuesday, Sept. 10, a session will be held from 10-11 a.m. at the Clark County Library at 201 Fountain Avenue in Springfield.

Two additional sessions will be held in Miami County on Thursday, Sept. 12 from 10-11 a.m. at the Troy Library at 419 West Main Street in Troy, and from 1-2 p.m. at the Tipp City Library at 11 East Main Street in Tipp City.

Funding for RideConnect is made possible through the Ohio Department of Transportation.
