Clark State will host a free Engineering Summer Festival on July 27 to showcase degrees and workforce opportunities in the areas of engineering, robotics, welding and laser technology.

SPRINGFIELD – Clark State College will host an Engineering Summer Festival on July 27 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on the Springfield campus, 570 East Leffel Lane, as it works to train the local workforce and prepare students to obtain highly-sought-after jobs in engineering, manufacturing and more.
“This event is designed to inspire and empower individuals interested in engineering, offering a window into a career where starting salaries range from $45,000 to $65,000,” said Adam Parrillo, dean of business and applied technologies. “The festival will have robots, welding, laser and other demos, as well as family activities, free food, a bouncy house and more!”
At 10 a.m., Clark State will also recognize students in the Metallica Scholars Program, an initiative that serves students who are pursuing careers in laser manufacturing and welding.
“Clark State is lucky to have the support of the heavy-metal band, Metallica,” said Parrillo. “With the financial assistance of their foundation, All Within My Hands, Clark State can offer affordable education, including scholarships, and programs that will help students obtain a high-demand, well-paying job.
“As new businesses move into the area, such as Intel and Honda-LG, Clark State collaborates with these companies to ensure we provide students with the training and skills these facilities need in their employees. We are training the manufacturing workforce and this event will allow attendees to learn more about how to join us at Clark State so they are primed to pursue job opportunities,” Parrillo said.
The event will include career exploration with local businesses and scholarship opportunities up to $5,000 for the college’s bachelor’s, associate and certificate programs. Tours will also be offered to showcase Clark State’s investment in the Sweet Center for Manufacturing state-of-the-art labs, with laser processing, additive manufacturing, automation, and other industrial technologies.
The event is free and open to the public. All who attend the event and register at the sign-in desk will be entered to win four tickets to a Cincinnati Reds baseball game.
