The Rotary Club of Urbana is pleased to announce this year’s planned activities for the Independence Day Holiday Weekend.
After many years of holding the fireworks display on July 4, the club was forced to secure another date this year. The vendor that had provided the show for the last several years could no longer provide a show on July 4 and several other vendors were unavailable on this date.
As a result, the club made the decision to move the fireworks display to Saturday, July 6, 2024 at dusk. This yearly fireworks display is made possible through generous community sponsors.
In addition to the fireworks display on July 6, Grimes Field is hosting a festival that day on the airport grounds that starts at 11 a.m., and the Champaign County Arts Council is sponsoring a concert by the Victorious Kaybirds from 6-9 p.m.
On Thursday, July 4, 2024, the Rotary Club of Urbana is continuing with its annual Chicken BBQ tradition. Tickets are now on sale through your local Rotarian or at the following locations in Urbana: Mercy Health Urbana Hospital Gift Shop, In Good Taste Market, The Peoples Saving Bank and F&M Bank.
Tickets are $12 each and carry-out and serving of dinners will be at Grimes Field from 3-6:30 p.m. on July 4. The sale of Chicken BBQ dinners supports Rotary community projects, including scholarships and this year’s fireworks display.
