SEDIMENT DUMPING-LAKE ERIE
CLEVELAND — The Army Corps of Engineers says it will agree to dredge the Cuyahoga (ky-uh-HOH’-guh) River shipping channel in Cleveland where cargo ships have been forced to lighten their loads to a steel plant because of accumulated sediment. UPCOMING: 130 words by 9:30 a.m., followed by 250 words by 4 p.m.
— SAILOR REMAINS-BURIAL: A sailor killed 75 years ago in the attack on Pearl Harbor is set to be buried with full military honors in northeast Ohio.
— REST AREA-SHOOTING: Court documents indicate an arrest warrant had been issued for a man who the State Highway Patrol says shot an 18-year-old multiple times at a central Ohio interstate rest area over the weekend before turning the gun on himself.
— DEATH PENALTY UPHELD: The U.S. Supreme Court has let stand a man’s conviction and death sentence for the Ohio killing of a youth counselor.
— SUSPICIOUS LETTER-INDICTMENT: An Ohio inmate accused of sending a judge a suspicious letter and powder in an anthrax hoax and instructing a second inmate to do the same has pleaded guilty and had three years added to his sentence.
— OHIO VOTING: The number of Ohioans who have asked for an absentee ballot ahead of the November presidential election is closing in on 1 million.
— BREAKWATER REPAIRS-CLEVELAND: A $36 million project to repair a northeast Ohio breakwater that was damaged during Superstorm Sandy is nearing completion.
