Judge: Strip club negligent in drunken driving crash death

CLEVELAND (AP) — A judge has ordered a Cleveland strip club to pay $8 million to the family of a woman killed in a wrong-way crash after finding the club failed to prevent a drunken patron from driving.

Cleveland.com (http://bit.ly/2cWthqy ) reports a Cuyahoga (ky-uh-HOH’-guh) County judge found Secrets Gentlemen’s Club negligent in the death of 22-year-old Desiree Snyder in April 2014.

The judge says employees escorted Julio Vargas out of the club but didn’t seek out an off-duty officer working there or take precautions to prevent Vargas from driving.

Records show he had a blood-alcohol content of at least .265 when he hit the car in which Snyder was a passenger on Interstate 480. Vargas pleaded no contest to charges including drunken driving.

An attorney for the club couldn’t be reached.
