Ohio woman rescued from car after tree topples in storm

HAMILTON, Ohio (AP) — Firefighters have helped rescue a woman trapped in her car after a tree fell onto it during weekend storm.

WCPO-TV in Cincinnati reports (http://bit.ly/2bZsLsk ) Aillsa Boykins was headed to get her hair done Saturday afternoon when the large tree became uprooted in the storm and crashed onto her car in Hamilton.

Boykins says she initially thought the sound was thunder. Hamilton firefighters had to help her out of the car through the passenger door.

Boykins, who turns 35 on Monday, said she’s certainly celebrating her life after the rescue.

Strong storms swept through parts of Ohio on Saturday afternoon, causing some damage to trees and power outages in several areas.

The Columbus Dispatch reports several kayakers were pulled from the Scioto River after getting caught in the sudden storm.
