Woman gets 3 years’ prison for obstruction in boy’s beating

HAMILTON, Ohio (AP) — One of the three women charged after the fatal beating of a 5-year-old boy at an Ohio motel has been sentenced to three years in prison for obstruction of justice.

The Hamilton-Middletown Journal-News (http://bit.ly/2bxGJ5J ) reports that Ramona Bostian got the maximum possible sentence Monday after pleading guilty last month under a deal with prosecutors.

Alexander Stephens died from his injuries in April. Police found him and his injured 6-year-old brother at a Middletown motel.

Police say Alexander’s mother, Theresa Hawkins-Stephens, and Bostian’s daughter, Rachel, had tied him up for nearly a day and severely beat him. They’ve pleaded guilty to murder and child endangering charges.

The elder Bostian apologized and told the judge before her sentencing that her daughter and Hawkins-Stephens had threatened to kill her.
