CINCINNATI (AP) — Authorities in Cincinnati are investigating the fatal police shooting of a robbery suspect who police said pulled a knife on officers.
Cincinnati officials were expected to provide an update Monday, although no briefing was scheduled immediately.
Police say the slain man was suspected of robbing a grocery store Sunday morning in which a knife was held to a security guard’s throat. About 20 minutes later, police said the suspect pulled a knife on two officers at 7:40 a.m. at Government Square downtown.
Police Chief Eliot Isaac said in a statement that a knife was recovered and that it appeared only one officer had fired.
The names of the slain man and the officers weren’t released immediately.
It was the third on-duty Cincinnati police slaying of a suspect this year.
