COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) — A man accused in the fatal shootings of two men in the parking lot of a car rental business in central Ohio has been indicted on two counts of aggravated murder.
Franklin County’s prosecutor says 21-year-old Connor Jeffries, of Violet Township in Fairfield County, also was indicted Thursday on charges of murder and tampering with evidence in the April 5 shooting in Columbus. Court records don’t show an attorney for Jeffries.
Authorities say Jeffries and his girlfriend drove to the car rental business, where Jeffries approached a parked vehicle, opened fire and fled. Prosecutor Ron O’Brien says 20-year-old Gary Francis and 21-year-old James Miller, also of Fairfield County, were in the vehicle and were fatally shot.
Police have said they believe the shooting may have been over a drug deal.
