TOLEDO, Ohio (AP) — Authorities say a man accused of killing his wife is back in Ohio after years of fighting extradition from a jail in his native Canada.
Kyle Sheppard was set for a court hearing Thursday in Toledo on a murder charge in the death of 29-year-old Katie Sheppard. Her body was found Nov. 2, 2012, on the front porch of the couple’s Toledo home.
Authorities allege Sheppard strangled his wife because he suspected she was cheating on him and drove to Canada, where he has been jailed since surrendering to police in Saguenay, Quebec, days later. Ohio court records don’t show an attorney for Sheppard.
Lucas County prosecutors said last month that Sheppard would be returned to Toledo to face trial after an appeals court in Canada denied his extradition challenges.
