CLEVELAND (AP) — Authorities say a man has been shot in the leg by a Cuyahoga (ky-uh-HOH’-guh) County deputy sheriff in downtown Cleveland after the suspect opened fire when the deputy intervened during an apparent robbery.
The shooting occurred around 8:30 a.m. Monday on a busy street during rush hour. Authorities say the suspect has been hospitalized. His condition wasn’t immediately known. The deputy wasn’t injured.
A spokesman for the Cuyahoga County Sheriff’s Office confirmed the shooting but said he couldn’t provide further details.
He says the sheriff’s office is investigating.
