COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) — Republican Gov. John Kasich (KAY’-sik) has joined state officials in kicking off the Ohio State Fair.
Kasich spoke Wednesday at the fair’s opening ceremony before touring the fairgrounds.
As the governor was speaking, one fairgoer shouted “Endorse Trump, Kasich!”
Kasich stayed away from Republican National Convention last week and has not endorsed GOP nominee Donald Trump. The governor mostly ignored the comment and continued with his remarks.
The two-term governor has kept a relatively low profile since abandoning his own presidential campaign in May.
Instead, he spoke to the U.S. Hispanic Chamber of Commerce during the convention, met with the British ambassador to the U.S. and headlined a state party reception at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
