Construction may hamper Cincinnati highway travel

CINCINNATI (AP) — Transportation authorities say travelers in Cincinnati could be affected as construction work requires ramp closures affecting two heavily traveled highways this week.

Ohio’s Department of Transportation plans lane closures on eastbound Interstate 74 Thursday and Friday nights from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. The Beekman Road ramp to eastbound I-74 and the eastbound I-74 ramp to northbound I-75 will be closed, with traffic detoured to Hopple Street.

The project calls for the ramp from east I-74 to Central Parkway to be replaced by new access at the Hopple Street exit. The plan is for a new northbound I-75 ramp from the Hopple Street bridge that will open in fall, with more changes ahead in an I-74/I-75 interchange reconstruction project planned for fall 2017.

Arrow boards and signs will alert motorists.
