CLEVELAND (AP) — A lifelong Cleveland Browns fan who has the same name as their new quarterback says it’s been surreal to watch Robert Griffin III join his northeast Ohio team.
WEWS-TV reports (http://bit.ly/1Tk23bs ) Robert Lee Griffin III was born and raised in Olmsted Falls and says his family started calling him RG3 when Robert Griffin III won the Heisman Trophy with Baylor University and had success early in his career with the Washington Redskins.
He’s hoping that his favorite team’s new quarterback will do his family name and the entire region proud. He says he’ll be filled with pride when RGIII runs out of the tunnel and says he’s sure his phone will blow up when the quarterback is seen on television with his name on the back.
