CINCINNATI (AP) — A pretrial hearing is set in Ohio for a former University of Cincinnati police officer charged with murder in the fatal shooting of a motorist during a traffic stop.
A hearing is scheduled for Tuesday in Cincinnati for Ray Tensing, who also is charged with voluntary manslaughter in the death of motorist Samuel DuBose.
Tensing has pleaded not guilty in the July 19 shooting. His trial is scheduled for Oct. 24.
His attorney has said that Tensing feared being dragged under the car as DuBose tried to drive away. Tensing pulled DuBose over near campus for a missing front license plate.
The shooting came amid increased national attention on how police treat black suspects. Tensing is white. DuBose was black.
