COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) — Ohio groups on both sides of the abortion debate are using the Mother’s Day holiday to make fundraising appeals.
The liberal policy group ProgressOhio launches its Stand With Mom campaign Sunday. Donations will support radio ads and billboards around Ohio.
Executive Director Sandy Theis (tys) says the ads will target politicians, regardless of party, who support policies the stymie abortion access and economic equality for women. She says policy decisions in Columbus and Washington are leading to “terrible trends” in poverty, hunger and infant mortality.
Meanwhile, Ohio Right to Life, the state’s largest anti-abortion group, says tagging it as a designated charity in certain online Mother’s Day purchases will benefit its education fund.
