DETROIT (AP) — Four U.S. museums involved in an effort to bring art to unexpected places are teaming up on a summer photo contest.
Organizers say the #InsideOutUSA Photo Contest starts June 3 with events in Detroit, Philadelphia and Miami as well as Akron, Ohio. The contest involves documenting “Inside/Out” projects in the cities and runs through June 12. Winners will be announced June 16.
The Detroit Institute of Arts started “Inside/Out” in 2010 and the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation has supported the program in recent years. It’s since expanded to the Philadelphia Museum of Art, the Pérez Art Museum Miami and the Akron Art Museum.
“Inside/Out” includes the installation of artwork reproductions outside. Plans call for expanding the program to other cities.
