CLEVELAND (AP) — A jury has reached a verdict in the case of a man accused of killing three women and hiding their bodies in garbage bags in suburban Cleveland.
A Cuyahoga (ky-uh-HOH’-guh) County jury began deliberations Wednesday on Michael Madison’s case. The court said Thursday afternoon that the verdict would be announced shortly.
Madison was arrested in July 2013 after bodies were found near the East Cleveland apartment building where he lived. He could face the death penalty if convicted on murder charges.
A prosecutor told jurors Madison charmed his victims to get close to them but also harbored hatred for the women in his life.
Madison’s attorney didn’t dispute that he killed the women. But he said Madison didn’t plan the killings and was often confused and had a drinking problem.
