CINCINNATI (AP) — Authorities are trying to determine whether distracted driving was involved in a crash that killed a Cincinnati firefighter on his way to work.
Police said Monday there was no evidence of impairment by either driver in the crash that killed 31-year-old Jordan Pieniazek (Puh-NAY’-zek).
The crash happened Sunday morning as Pieniazek was riding his motorcycle to work. Police say the 24-year-old driver of a car crossed the center line of the road and hit Pieniazek.
Investigators are still looking for the cellphone of the car’s driver. Police say the man apparently had it in the car before the crash but didn’t have it afterward. Police couldn’t find it.
Pieniazek had been a member of the fire department since 2009.
