Reyes wins fifth Flying Pig Marathon in Cincinnati

CINCINNATI (AP) — California’s Sergio (SER’-jee-oh) Reyes (RAY’-us) has won his fifth Flying Pig Marathon in Cincinnati.

Reyes crossed the finish line in 2:26:03 on Sunday. The 34-year-old had won three straight Cincinnati marathons before skipping the race last year.

David Riddle of Cincinnati finished second while Brendon Moody of Van Wert placed third in the men’s race.

First-time marathoner 26-year-old Anne Flower of Cincinnati won the women’s race in 2:55:46.

She beat out her high school track coach, Kerry Lee of Cincinnati, who finished second. Tami Christensen of Liberty Lake, Washington, placed third.

Organizers say nearly 40,000 people registered for various events over the three days, breaking last year’s record number.
