Ohio man sentenced to life in prison for fatal 2015 stabbing

DAYTON, Ohio (AP) — A prosecutor says a southwest Ohio man charged in the 2015 fatal stabbing of a neighbor in an apartment building housing the homeless and disabled has been found guilty of aggravated murder and sentenced to life in prison.

Montgomery County Prosecutor Mat Heck Jr. says 32-year-old Sean Sorrentino of the Dayton suburb of Kettering withdrew his earlier plea of not guilty by reason of insanity and was found guilty Thursday of charges that also included assault, aggravated burglary and burglary. The charges stemmed from the June 2, 2015, slaying of Allen Samuels.

Authorities say Sorrentino attacked the 37-year-old Samuels with a kitchen knife inside Samuels’ apartment.

Authorities say both men had been homeless before moving into the complex. Sorrentino was ordered to pay Samuels’ funeral costs.
