New service to Reagan National launches in Cleveland

CLEVELAND (AP) — Cleveland Hopkins International Airport is celebrating its newest flight to the nation’s capital ahead of the Republican National Convention.

The Plain Dealer in Cleveland reports ( ) American Airlines on Tuesday launched a three-times-a-day nonstop route to Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport.

Todd Payne, chief of marketing and air service development at Cleveland Hopkins, says the service will be critical when the Republican National Convention is held in the northeast Ohio city in July.

American is offering three departures from Cleveland starting at 6:20 a.m. and will have three return flights that can get travelers back to Cleveland by dinner time.

The new route began the same day the airline eliminated service to Phoenix from the airport.
