Ohio city plans to seek worker pay, safety changes

CINCINNATI (AP) — Officials of an Ohio city plan to push legislation aimed at improving safety and pay for city workers.

Cincinnati officials led by John Cranley say they will be joined by U.S. Sen. Sherrod Brown at a Tuesday news conference. Cranley and Brown are both Democrats. Brown is a second-term senator from the Cleveland area.

Cranley says the city wants to lead the way in building Cincinnati’s middle class. He says the proposed package of ordinances would bring workplace safety reforms and improved wages.

The city says some city council members, city employees, labor leaders and community activists will be at the news conference at the Plumbers and Pipefitters local union hall.
