DAYTON, Ohio (AP) — A southwest Ohio man accused of plotting to murder his estranged wife and their two children is scheduled for an initial court appearance.
Tuesday’s arraignment for 30-year-old James M. Lane comes days after the man from the Dayton suburb of Riverside was indicted on charges including attempted murder, attempted kidnapping and violating a protection order.
His attorney, Joe Stadnicar, says that Lane is innocent and they will fight the charges.
Montgomery County Prosecutor Mat Heck Jr. says Lane was arrested after his wife notified police on March 16 that he was stalking her. The prosecutor says police found evidence in Lane’s vehicle, including a lock-picking kit, duct tape, zip ties, latex gloves and a firearm.
Court records indicate that the couple have a pending divorce case.
