CINCINNATI (AP) — State transportation officials say Interstate 75 southbound has been closed about 20 miles north of Cincinnati because of a reported confrontation between police and a man wielding a knife.
Emergency dispatchers say there were reports of shots being fired early Tuesday afternoon along the interstate. Multiple news outlets have reported that police approached a man with a knife before shots were fired. No other information was immediately available.
Police in the suburban villages of Glendale and Evendale along the interstate said investigators were at the scene.
Northbound lanes of I-75, which were closed after the reported encounter, have since reopened. Southbound lanes will be closed indefinitely just below Interstate 275.
Nearby Princeton City Schools are on spring break this week.
