Police: Father, son working on roof likely electrocuted

LYNCHBURG, Va. (AP) — Authorities say a father and son found dead were likely electrocuted by a power line while doing maintenance work on the roof of a home in Virginia.

The Lynchburg Police Department says in a statement that 55-year-old Timothy Chittum Sr. and 26-year-old Timothy Chittum Jr. were found dead in the yard of the home Wednesday afternoon.

Investigators say the two Lynchburg residents had been doing chimney work on the two-story house when their ladder apparently touched a high-voltage electrical power line.

Authorities say the bodies were taken to the medical examiner’s office to confirm the cause and manner of deaths.
