DNC 2016: Affordable health care is a main concern for delegates

0

PHILADELPHIA — Health care is on the minds of delegates attending the Democratic National Convention. The Democratic Party platform includes making health care affordable for everyone, improving prescription services for senior citizens, preserving Medicare and Social Security, and no arbitrary insurer cancellation due to pre-existing conditions.

Cindy Purvis, a board member of Health Care of All of Pennsylvania, is at the DNC to talk to Pennsylvania delegates to bring a single-payer health care system to the state. Purvis said doing that would:

* Free up money for education and infrastructure.

* Create between 120,000 and 200,000 jobs.

* Offer the freedom to choose doctors and hospitals.

* Give the security of continued health care after leaving your job.

Purvis said the organization is working to convince state legislators to approve the legislation.
