M’burg girls claim sectional bowling title

The Mechanicsburg girls bowling team won the OHSAA Division II Southwest District Sectional Tournament held at Poelking Marion Lanes in Huber Heights with 3,923 pins. With the win, the Indians advance to the District Tournament that will be held in Beavercreek next week. Graham (3,582) also advanced with a third-place finish and Urbana (3,206) advanced with a ninth-place finish.

The Indians were led by Lauren Mayberry, Katie Bush and Ally Hosier who finished in the top five as individuals. Mayberry led all girls with a 213-214-212/639. Bush had a 199-226-199/624 to finish third. Hosier had a 203-172-234/609 to finish in fifth.

Other scores for the Indians included Michaela Edwards (560 series), Miranda Keene (172-131/303) and Jenna Alspaugh (156).

Junior high basketball

Mad River beat Urbana, 51-23, in the CBC 8th grade boys tournament.

Urbana finishes the season 13-5 overall.

UHS ticket sales

Urbana High School has girls and boys basketball tournament tickets on sale in the UHS Athletic Office. Tickets are on sale from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. The girls play Shawnee on Feb. 15 at 6 p.m. at Tecumseh and the boys play Graham on Feb. 20 at 7 p.m. at Springfield High School. Presale tickets are $6 with 20 percent going to the athletic department. Tickets are $7 at the door and the athletic department won’t earn anything.
