Triad tops WL-S in baseball

WEST LIBERTY – Triad defeated WL-S, 9-6, in nine innings of OHC baseball on Wednesday.

Triad scored 5 runs with 2 outs in the third inning. Two Tiger errors and some timely hitting put the Cardinals on top.

The Tigers (11-7, 6-3) rallied to tie the game at 6-6 in the bottom of the 7th inning, but Triad was able to muster 3 unanswered runs in the top of the 9th.

Thomas Allen pitched 8 full innings, striking out 3 and giving up 9 hits in the loss. The Tigers out-hit Triad, 17-11.

Senior Shane Ford earned the win for Triad.

WL-S prevails in softball

WL-S routed Tecumseh, 17-1, on Wednesday in non-league softball.

Kelsey Day was the winning pitcher with 8 strikeouts.

For the Tigers (14-4), Kiana Reames was 3 for 3 with a home run, a double and 5 RBI, Olivia Ames was 4 for 5 with a double and an RBI, Kelsey Day and Arrah Sandy each had two doubles and Kenedie Cox was 3 for 4.

Triad softball wins

NORTH LEWISBURG – Abby Ehrenborg clouted two home runs as Triad beat Ridgemont, 12-0, in non-league softball on Wednesday.

For the Cardinals, Maddi Collier earned the win and went 2 for 3 with a double and Madison Dolby was 2 for 4 with a triple.

Triad (12-10) plays at Catholic Central today.

UHS tennis loses

The Urbana boys tennis team lost to Northwestern, 4-1, in CBC boys tennis.

At first singles, Andrew Fansler lost to Jake Boop, 6-1, 6-1.

At second singles, Bailey Ullah lost to Matt Yenger, 6-0, 6-2.

At third singles, Abe Angles beat Cody North, 6-4, 6-0.

At first doubles, Cole Headlee and Ethan Headlee lost to Camron Snycazh and Nathan Wildotsky, 6-4, 6-2.

And at second doubles, Stouffer and Alex Swank lost to Luke Macy and Juer Glass, 6-1, 6-4.

Urbana (9-9) plays at Kenton Ridge today.

JH track

The West Liberty-Salem junior high girls won the Champaign County Meet with 159 points. Graham was second with 65, Urbana third with 47, Mechanicsburg fourth with 20 and Triad fifth with 19.

Placing first for WL-S were Kaylee LeVan, 100 (13.99), Long Jump (12-9.75); Kaleigh Wilcox, Discus (80-10); Anna McGill, Shot (32-7.25); Madison Bahan, Pole Vault (7.0); Katelyn Stapleton, 1,600 (5:22.6), 800 (2:31.71), 400 (1:04.2) and the 4×400 (4:38.67) team ofBahan, Selena Weaver, Hallie Smith and Megan Adams.

The West Liberty-Salem junior high boys team also won the Champaign County Meet.

Nick Burden placed first in the 1,600 (4:50) and 800 (2:23).
