WL-S sweeps Mechanicsburg

Tyler Louden threw a two-hit, one-run gem on Monday as WL-S topped Mechanicsburg, 9-1, in OHC baseball.

Thomas Allen was 2 for 4 with 4 RBI for WL-S.

WL-S wins in softball

West Liberty-Salem defeated Mechanicsburg, 9-5, in OHC softball on Monday.

For the Tigers (12-4, 9-1), Kelsey Day was the winning pitcher, Kenedie Cox was 3-for-4 with 2RBI, Day was 2-for-4 with a double and 2 RBI and Grace Woodruff was 2-for-2 with 2 RBI.

The Tigers host Cedarville today.

For the Indians (6-8), Elshya Stapleton took the loss, Kasey Schipfer was 2-for-4 with an RBI and Miranda Lauchard was 2-for-3 with a double.

In a softball tournament on Saturday, Mechanicsburg beat Fort Loramie, 4-2.

Mary Mayo had 2 doubles and an RBI, Meagan Hux was 2-for-3 with a double and an RBI, Ceci Link had a double and an RBI and Miranda Lauchard added an RBI for the Indians.

The Indians beat Tri-Village, 5-1.

Elysha Stapleton was 2-got-3 with a double, Mayo was 2-for-3 with a double and an RBI, Lauchard had a home run and 2 RBI and Link added a double and an RBI.

Stapleton, Mayo and Lauchard were each named to the all-tournament team for M’burg.

The Indians play at Fairbanks today (finish two innings and play a 2nd game).

Graham baseball falls

SPRINGFIELD – Kenton Ridge downed Graham, 6-2, in CBC baseball on Monday.

For the Falcons, Ethan Palmer and Andy Milligan each had an RBI.

Graham softball falls

SPRINGFIELD – Fourth-ranked Kenton Ridge knocked off eighth-ranked Graham, 3-0, in CBC softball on Monday.

The Cougars did all their damage in the sixth inning, handing Madison Bryant a loss despite just five hits against 13 strikeouts.

Offensively for the Falcons (12-4, 7-3), Adrianna Hicks was 2-for-3, while Ashton Curnutte, Mackenzie Smith and Skylar Doroda were each 1-for-3.

Triad jayvees

Triad’s jayvee softball team lost to Fairbanks, 14-13. For Triad, Kaitlynn Pence went 3 for 4 with 3 RBI and Kayleigh Boldman went 2 for 4 with 2 stolen bases and 2 RBIs.

Triad beat Tecumseh, 19-4, in 5 innings in the first game of a doubleheader. For Triad, Kaitlynn Pence went 2 for 3 with 3 RBI, Jaina Stanley went 2 for 4 and Lauren McCall had an inside-the-park home run and 3 stolen bases.

In the second game, Triad won 18-0 in 5 innings. Kristi Bailey went 3 for 4 and Bailey Perry went 2 for 4.

Triad is now 5-6 overall and 1-2 in the OHC.

Champaign County track

MECHANICSBURG – Mechanicsburg hosted the Champaign County track and field championships on Monday.

In the girls’ events, West Liberty-Salem won the title with 158 points. Graham was second (84), Mechanicsburg third (49), Urbana fourth (29) and Triad fifth (27).

Winning events were Janie Kopus (WLS, high jump, 400), Lydia Moell (WLS, long jump, pole vault, 300 hurdles), Kayla Tullis (GHS, discus, shot put), Valerie Smith (GHS, 100 hurdles), Grace Layne (MHS, 100), Reghan Bieleski (WLS, 1600), Grace Adams (WLS, 800), Taylor Lauck (WLS, 200), Holly Cole (THS, 3200), the GHS 4×800 relay, the WLS 4×200 relay, the WLS 4×100 relay and the WLS 4×400 relay.

Finishing second were Savannah Weaver (WLS, high jump), Mya Canaday (UHS, long jump), Shannon Barch (MHS, discus), Jenna Magnuson (WLS, shot put), Megan Dillon (WLS, pole vault), Addy Johnson (WLS, 100 hurdles, 300 hurdles), Valerie Smith (GHS, 100), Holly Cole (THS, 1600), Roxie Conn (GHS, 400), Taylor White (GHS, 800), Grace Layne (MHS, 200), Stephanie Dietrich (MHS, 3200), the WLS 4×800 relay, the MHS 4×200 relay, the MHS 4×100 relay and the GHS 4×400 relay.

In the boys’ events, West Liberty-Salem won the title with 111 points. Graham was second (85), Urbana third (69), Mechanicsburg fourth (49) and Triad fifth (34).

WL-S at Bulldog Classic

West Liberty-Salem’s girls competed at the Milton-Union Bulldog Track Classic on Saturday, finishing 5th.

Earning third-place finishes for the Tigers were Lydia Moell (pole vault), Grace Adams (3200), the 4×800 relay of Taylor Lauck, Adams, Payton Umphries and Katie Hartsel and the 4×100 relay of Addy Johnson, Paige Shafer, Kaylee Harrison and Alex Burton.
