Graham downs Mechanicsburg

ST. PARIS – Graham defeated Mechanicsburg, 3-1, in non-league softball on Monday.

Madison Bryant had a big day for the Falcons, going 1-for-3 at the plate with a two-run homer in her first at-bat. Bryant also struck out 17 batters.

For the Falcons, Alli Neeld went 2-for-4 with a double, Skyler Doroda was 2-for-3 with a double, Cierra Furrow was 1-for-3 with a double and Mackenzie Smith was 1-for-3.

“This was a big test. (Mechanicsburg) is a seasoned team, an experienced team,” GHS Coach Ralph Foster said. “I’m pretty proud of them.”

For the Indians, Elysha Stapleton doubled and Kasey Schipfer, Francys King and Allie Raber each went 1-for-3.

Graham plays at Versailles on Thursday while Mechanicsburg hosts Triad today.

Urbana tops Legacy Christian

XENIA – Urbana defeated Legacy Christian, formerly Xenia Christian, 4-2, in non-league baseball on Monday.

The Hillclimbers scored a run in the first and third inning, going to nine innings before they pushed across the go-ahead runs.

Caleb Peterson was 2-for-4 with a triple, Logan Rooney was 2-for-3, Gabe Spiers was 2-for-2 and Kaleb Bowdle had a double for UHS.

Brayden Fain went five and third innings on the mound, striking out five. Spiers got the win in relief, going the rest of the way with six strikeouts.

Urbana (2-1) plays at Xenia High School today.

WL-S baseball falls

WEST LIBERTY – North Union held off WL-S, 3-2, in non-league baseball on Monday.

Thomas Allen took the loss for the Tigers. Tyler Jones was on base all three times with 2 hits and a walk for WL-S.

The Tigers host Miami East on Friday.

Graham baseball loses

DeGRAFF – Riverside downed Graham, 9-5, in non-league baseball on Monday.
