UU softball swept at home

The Urbana University softball team fell twice to a hot-hitting Shepherd squad at Blue Knight Field Saturday afternoon. The Rams won 9-1 in the first game and 10-1 in the second matchup.

UU falls to 7-9 overall and 4-4 against league opponents.

Game 1

The Blue Knights were only able to plate one run in the fourth inning, as the Rams’ offense plated seven runs in the first inning and continued to pile it on, scoring four runs in the fourth. Redshirt Junior Caitlyn Stoner plated the only run for the Blue Knights in the fourth inning. UU also had hits from Margo Jackson, Bailee Faulkner and a double by Mykee Holtz.

Game 2

In game two, the bats stayed cold for the Blue Knights as UU only collected five hits as a team. Jackson recorded the only RBI with a sacrifice bunt in the in the third inning, yet it wasn’t enough to outlast the Rams, who plated all 10 runs in the fourth inning. Holtz continued her power surge by collecting another double, and the Blue Knights also gained hits from Riley Curtis, Briana Bamber, Jenna VanHoose and Jackson.

The Blue Knights return to action on Wednesday at Notre Dame College in South Euclid, Ohio, at 3 p.m.
