Cardinals upend Cedarville

Triad beat Cedarville, 25-15, 26-24, 22-25, 25-22, in OHC volleyball on Monday.

For the Cardinals, Caleigh Phelps had 12 points, 10 kills and 18 assists, Madison Dolby had 22 kills and 12 digs, Sydney Propst had 12 points and 14 digs and Kayleigh Rice had 12 digs.

The Triad jayvees won, 25-6, 25-12.

Urbana tennis wins

The Urbana girls tennis team defeated Piqua, 5-0, in non-league action on Monday.

At first singles, Haylee Johns won, 6-0, 6-0.

At second singles, Morgan Lattimer won, 6-3,6-2.

At third singles, Katie Asper won, 6-0, 6-1.

At 1st doubles, Bri Ussher and Olivia Krieger won, 6-1, 6-4.

And at 2nd doubles, Rachel Pickering and Ashlyn Dunn won, 6-0, 6-2.

WL-S tops Triad in golf

The Triad boys golf team was defeated by WL-S at Liberty Hills, 166-182, on Monday.

For WL-S, Dillon Calicoat was medalist with a 35. Max Eggleston and Kannon Stillings each shot a 39.

For Triad (1-8), Caleb Young had a 43, Alec Ober a 44, Derek Bruce a 45 and Creighton Bradley a 50.

Mechanicsburg splits

Mechanicsburg beat Catholic Central but lost to Fairbanks in OHC golf on Monday.

M’burg shot a 181, fueled by Caleb Westfall’s 41. Keane Dunn and Corey Bogan each shot 46, Jack Shoemaker had a 48, David McMahill shot a 50 and Trent Huemmer had a 69.

M’burg (26-6, 7-2 OHC) hosts Madison Plains today.

WL-S boys fall

The WL-S boys soccer team lost to Fairbanks, 5-2. Scoring for the Tigers were Neil Markin and Ian Wolfe. Bishop Williamson had 1 assist. Elias Kirker-Napiorkowski had 10 saves and Zach McCall had 3 saves.

By virtue of the victory, Fairbanks takes over sole possession of first place in the OHC. The Tigers host Miami East on Tuesday.

Indians compete at Tiffin

Mechanicsburg competed at the Tiffin Carnival over the weekend. Sophie Boeck finished 191st in the Division III race and for the boys, J.P. Kent finished 113th in the Division III-B race.

JH cross country

Mechanicsburg competed at Tiffin. For the girls, Kate Moore was 47th and for the boys, Joshua Spinner was 23rd. Spinner was running second until officials guided the top three runners in the wrong direction.

JH football

West Liberty-Salem lost to Mechanicsburg, 20-18.

For WL-S (1-2), Isaiah McGill had a 14-yard run for a touchdown and caught a 24-yard pass from Nick Burden for a second TD. Burden also threw a 7-yard TD pass to Tanner LeVan.

JH volleyball

The WL-S 8th graders defeated Northeastern, 25-11, 25-23. For the Tigers (4-3), Kaliegh Wilcox delivered 6 aces, Selena Weaver had four aces, Emily Bolton had three, Emily Scott had two and Olivia Muirhead and Hannah Jones each added one. Weaver had three kills, Muirhead had two kills and Makena Gardner, Wilcox and Hannah Bowman each added one kill for the Tigers.

The WL-S 7th graders lost, 25-18, 25-9.

YMCA volleyball, swimming

Registrations are now being taken at the Champaign Family YMCA for fall elementary volleyball and Flying Fish swim team.
