WL-S girls win again in soccer

The West Liberty-Salem girls soccer team defeated Greeneview, 1-0, in OHC action on Tuesday.

Gabby Hollar scored the goal and Madison Oelker added the assist.

Paige Shafer had 6 saves in goal.

The Tigers (12-1, 7-1) play at Mechanicsburg on Thursday at 5:30 p.m.

Irish top M’burg

MECHANICSBURG – Catholic Central defeated Mechanicsburg, 6-2, in OHC girls soccer on Tuesday.

Tori Jacobs scored twice for the Indians, with Kameron Loveless and Sydney Hux assisting. Chayna Sanford had 13 saves in goal.

M’burg hosts West Liberty-Salem on Thursday.

Urbana falls to Tecumseh

NEW CARLISLE – Tecumseh defeated Urbana, 25-17, 25-16, 25-11, in CBC volleyball on Tuesday.

Olivia Dunham had 12 assists to lead the Hillclimbers, while Kaelyn Bertsch and Hunter Rogan added 5 kills each.

The Urbana jayvees won, 27-25, 25-18.

Taylor Adams had 17 assists and Megan Ridder had 8 kills.

Urbana (7-10, 3-4 CBC) plays at home versus Greenon on Thursday.

Tigers’ standouts

In West Liberty-Salem’s win over Mechanicsburg in OHC volleyball on Monday, Jamie Peterson had 24 kills, 5 total blocks and 4 ace serves, Emily Shultz had 12 digs and 10 serve receptions, Olivia Ames had 9 digs and 15 serve receptions, Tory Cordell had 4 kills and Kylie Gilroy had 33 assists for the Tigers (14-3).

M’burg, WL-S rated in poll

In the latest computer prep football playoff poll, Mechanicsburg (6-0) is rated third and WL-S (4-2) is fourth in Division VI, Region 22.

The top eight teams in each region will advance to the playoffs and the top four will host a first-round game.

Junior high football

Graham’s 7th grade team beat Northridge, 20-0. Nick Moore, Trace Braun and Brady King were among the standouts for GJHS.
