Young Life Memorial draws crowd

The second annual Young Life Memorial Run took place on July 9 and exceeded the expectations of event organizer Ashley Eades Dennis.

“It was beyond what I imagined,” Dennis said.

The event drew 101 entrants fro the 2.5 mile run/walk and 26 children for the Rainbow Kiddie Dash. Landon Wenger won the male division and Lauren Fowler took first place in the female division.

The event, formed in memory of young lives lost, featured a mile with white flags for each miscarriage and loss in utero of the donors. The last mile was marked with memorials for infants, children and young adults. Sky lanterns were released at sundown to serve as a remembrance vigil.

Plans are already underway for the third annual event, to be held July 15, 2017 at 7:30 p.m. For more information, check out the Young Life Memorial Run Organization page on Facebook.
