Triad beats Greeneview in volleyball

Triad beat Greeneview, 25-21, 25-16, 25-17, in OHC volleyball on Thursday.

For the Cardinals (4-10), Jenna Ober had 10 digs, Madison Dolby had 9 digs, 9 kills and 14 assists and Allyssa Eaton added 7 kills and 5 blocks.

Triad will host West Liberty-Salem on Monday for their Volley for the Cure game.

Triad’s jayvees won, 25-17, 25-16. For Triad (7-6, 7-3), Jennifer Sizemore had 16 points, which included 5 aces, and 11 assists, Kayleigh Rice had 7 points and 9 digs, Kristin Bailey had 7 points and Tori Thomas had 6 kills.

Graham tops Greenon

Graham defeated Greenon, 25-17, 25-10, 25-7, in CBC/MRD volleyball on Thursday.

For the Falcons (13-5, 6-1), Lauryn Holcomb had 13 digs and 6 aces, Lisa DeWeese had 15 kills and 2 aces and Katie Milligan had 8 kills and 3 blocks.

Cross Country

Several area schools competed in the Triad Invitational cross country race on Tuesday.

Triad finished third, Mechanicsburg fourth and Urbana eighth in the girls race.

Leading Triad were Holly Cole (5th, 21:51), Alyssa Ferguson (16th, 23:03), Summer Doty (24th, 23:47), Alea Ferguson (28th, 24:02) and Sandi Alspaugh (32nd, 24:25). Lyndsey Alspaugh, Karen Alspaugh and Kylie Curton also competed.

Mechanicsburg was led by Sophie Boeck (13th, 22:56), Michelle Auflick (20th, 23:23), Abbey Kramer (22nd, 23:44), Stephanie Dietrich (29th, 24:05) and Emily Wilson (40th, 25:22). Zoe Chandler and Elizabeth Snyder also ran.

Urbana was led by Tabby McCall (12th, 22:52), Marissa Horn (35th, 24:53), Cierra Sturgell (49th, 26:12), Kendra Arnett (50th, 26:16) and Alexis Parker (65th, 28:51). Raegan Bartee also ran.

In the boys’ race, Urbana was eighth and Mechanicsburg was ninth.

Tristan Lynxwiler (7th, 18:15) led the Hillclimbers. Alec Freeman (24th, 19:26), Ethan Burnside (51st, 21:05), Riley Emmons (65th, 22:23) and Trevor Pittsenbarger (67th, 22:36) scored. Jaxton Bloemhard and Noah Booze also ran.

Mechanicsburg was led by Jared Butcher (49th, 20:57), Sam Rozmus (58th, 21:33), Houston Fraley (62nd, 21:58), Josh Nunamaker (71st, 22:48) and Preston Estep (72nd, 22:50). Alex Miller, Jason Surmaceviz and Mason Ritchason also ran.

Zack Moore (66th), Jared Anderson (87th), Garrett Nott (88th) and Austin Deere (90th) competed for Triad as individuals.

Jayvee soccer

WL-S defeated Ben Logan, 3-0, in jayvee boys soccer. Jacob VanHorn tallied all 3 goals for the Tigers and Logan Cole and Thomas Allen each recorded an assist.

Zane Woodruff and Zach McCall combined in goal for the shutout. Woodruff had 2 saves while McCall had 3 saves.

Junior high volleyball

The WL-S 7th graders lost to Catholic Central, 25-17, 25-15. Olivia Muirhead had 6 aces, Emily Bolton added 3 and Kayleigh Wilcox had 3 good serve receives for the Tigers.

The WL-S 8th graders lost, 25-15, 12-25, 25-17. Alex Burton had 5 kills and 4 good serve receives, Kaylah Erwin had 2 aces and 3 assists and Kennah Erwin added four good serve receives for the Tigers.
