MHS second at NE Invitational

SPRINGFIELD – Mechanicsburg’s boys track and field team was second out of 16 schools at the Northeastern Invitational.

David Harvey won the high jump and Bryce Waring won the long jump for the Indians.

Harvey was second in the long jump, with Phil Cook second in the pole vault, Jared Butcher second in the 400 and the 4×200 team taking second.

Coming in third were Trent Fuller (discus) and the 4×400 team.

“This is a fantastic glimpse of what our team may bring to the OHC (meet) this week,” M’burg Coach Jennifer Dietrich said.

Graham baseball wins

Graham beat Ponitz, 23-3, in non-league baseball on Saturday.

Nolan Anderson had 4 hits and 3 RBI for the Falcons. Josh Lewis and Will Wells each had 3 RBI.

Graham softball wins

Graham beat Versailles, 11-1, in non-league softball on Saturday.

For the Falcons, Melany Robbins was 3 for 3, Alyssa Theodor was 2 for 3 with a grand slam home run, Madison Bryant was 2 for 4 with a double and a 2-run homer, Allie Neeld hit a solo homer, Mallory Roberts was 1 for 2 with a double, Ashton Curnutte was 1 for 2 with 2 RBI and Marley Brandyberry was 2 for 4 with a walk-off 2-run homer for the run-rule victory.

WL-S baseball loses

Anna beat West Liberty-Salem, 5-2, in non-league baseball on Friday.

Thomas Allen had 2 hits and Chase Humphrey had 2 hits and an RBI for the Tigers.

Junior high track

The WL-S junior high girls track and field team won the Anna relays on Saturday.

Winning events were the discus team (Gracie Serna, Anna McGill, Sydnee Payer), the shot put team (Kambree Cox, Gracie Serna, Anna McGill), the 800 sprint medley (Emily Scott, Julia Ames, Alex Burton, Kaitlynn Michael), the 4×200 relay (Megan Dillon, Lydia Moell, Sophie Cole, Grace Estes) and the 4×100 team (Megan Dillon, Julia Ames, Caidryn Wade, Alex Burton).
