WL-S girls win Tiger invite

WEST LIBERTY – WL-S’s girls track and field team won the Tiger Invitational on Friday. Graham was sixth in the eight-team field.

Winning events for the Tigers were Janie Kopus (pole vault), the 4×200 team and the 4×400 team.

Taking second were Leah Cole (1,600), Janie Kopus (400), Reghan Bieleski (800), the 4×800 team and the 4×100 team.

Earning third were Rachel McGill (long jump), Caylee Karg (100H), Jenna Magnuson (400) and Leah Cole (800).

Placing in the top three for Graham were Ashton Arnett (2nd, pole vault) and Carly Carafa (3rd, 200).

On the boys’ side, Graham was third and WL-S was fifth.

Placing in the top three for the Falcons were Gage Thomas (2nd, high jump), Austin Brayton (3rd, 100), the 4×100 team (1st), Zach Caudill (3rd, 200) and the 4×400 team (3rd).

Placing in the top three for the Tigers were Brandon Wolfe (2nd, long jump), Christian Parker (3rd, long jump), the 4×800 team (3rd) and Joey Adams (2nd, 1,600 and 3,200).

WL-S softball wins

West Liberty-Salem defeated Fort Loramie, 3-2, in non-league softball on Friday.

For WL-S, Kenedie Cox was 2 for 3 with a pair of steals, Olivia Ames was 1 for 2 with a steal and Emily Schultz was 1 for 2 with an RBI and a steal.

The Tigers also beat Troy 17-7 in six innings of non-league softball on Thursday, scoring 10 runs in the bottom of the sixth to win.

Kiana Reames was 3 for 4 with a double, a grand slam home run and 7 RBI, Cox was 2 for 4 and Dierdre McGill was 1 for 2 with a double and an RBI.

The Tigers host Bethel for the first round of tournament play on Monday at 5 p.m.

The WL-S jayvees beat Fort Loramie, 22-4. Laura Neer (13-5) recorded the win. Maddie Estes had 4 hits, including 2 over the fence homers for a total of 6 RBI. Olivia Milliron had 5 singles and 5 RBI and Laine Godwin had 4 hits, including a homer and 4 RBI.

Triad baseball wins

Triad beat Benjamin Logan, 6-4, in non-league baseball on Friday.

For the Cardinals, Dalton Holycross had 2 RBI and Trent McIntyre had a double.

Triad improves to 19-7 with the win.

Graham baseball wins

Graham beat Miami East, 8-2, in non-league baseball on Friday.

Tyler Powell had 3 hits and an RBI for the Falcons, with Will Wells adding 2 hits. Brandon Thompson and Logan Black each had 2 RBI.

M’burg baseball falls

Mechanicsburg lost to Cedarville, 7-6, in OHC baseball on Friday.

For M’burg, Caleb Newsome was 2 for 4 with a double and an RBI and Keane Dunn was 1 for 3 with a double and 2 RBI.

Mechanicsburg (16-7) hosts Fairlawn on Monday in the first round of tournament action.

M’burg softball wins

Mechanicsburg beat Cedarville, 12-2, in OHC softball on Friday.

For M’burg, Elysha Stapleton was 4 for 5 with 4 RBI, Mary Mayo was 4 for 5 with a pair of triples, Jessica Maddux had a double, a triple and 2 RBI and CiCi Link was 2 for 4 with an RBI.

M’burg plays at the Houston Showcase on Saturday with games against Houston and Newton.

WL-S jayvee baseball loses

Anna beat West Liberty-Salem, 10-3, in jayvee baseball on Friday. Tyler Jones, Michael Price and Tyler Gardner all knocked in runs, with Cayden Whitman going 2 for 3 for WL-S.

Triad tops West Jeff

Triad beat West Jefferson, 6-5, in non-league softball on Friday.

For the Cardinals, Maddi Collier earned the win, Abby Ehrenborg was 2 for 4 with a homer and Ali Dixon was 2 for 4.

Triad (15-9) plays its first tournament game on Monday at home against Milton-Union.

Triad’s jayvee softball team lost to Northeastern 7-6 on Thursday.

Kayleigh Boldman was 2 for 4 with 2 RBI, Jennifer Sizemore was 2 for 3, Jenny Kim got an RBI and Satu Rantanen went 1 for 2 for THS.

Graham softball loses

Kenton Ridge defeated Graham, 6-4, in CBC non-divisional softball on Thursday.

For the Falcons, Madison Bryant was 2 for 4, Melany Robbins was 1 for 2 and Marley Brandyberry had an RBI double.
