Urbana earns split in Todd Foster Memorial

Urbana baseball beat Northeastern, 9-2, before losing 8-0 to Waynesville in the Todd Foster Memorial on Saturday.

Against Northeastern for UHS, Kaleb Bowdle was 2 for 4 with a double and 2 RBI, Logan Rooney was 1 for 2 with a double 2 RBI, Caleb Peterson was 2 for 4, Skyler Reisinger was 3 for 3 with a double and Trenton Dunham was 2 for 2 with an RBI. Reid Taylor and Brayden Fain also knocked in runs.

Against Waynesville, Fain was 1 for 2 with Bowdle, Seth Mangus, Taylor and Dunham each going 1 for 3.

Urbana (7-9) hosts Northwestern on Monday.

Urbana softball wins

Urbana beat Southeastern, 6-1, in non-league softball on Saturday.

For UHS, Emma Burnside was 3 for 4 with 2 runs scored and Malie Moyer was 1 for 3 with 2 RBI and a run scored. Katy Curnutte was 2 for 3 with a triple, an RBI and 2 runs scored.

Urbana hosts Northwestern on Monday.

MHS baseball claims pair

Mechanicsburg swept Fairlawn 12-0 and 13-2 in non-league baseball on Saturday.

In the first game for M’burg, Colton McMannis allowed just one hit and struck out 7 batters while going 3 for 4 at the plate with 3 RBI and 2 runs scored. Joey Butsch was 3 for 3 with a double, 4 RBI and 2 runs.

In the second game, Dylan Hartman was 2 for 3 with 3 RBI and a run scored and Keane Dunn was 2 for 3 with 3 RBI and a run scored.

Mechanicsburg moves to 12-4 on the season.

Triad splits weekend games

Triad defeated Delaware Hayes 11-2 in non-league baseball on Saturday.

For THS, Tim Marsalis was 3 for 4, Dalton Holycross was 2 for 4 with a triple and 3 RBI, Dustin Bruce was 3 for 5, Trent McIntyre was 2 for 4 with a double and 2 RBI, Briley Harlan was 2 for 5 and Noah Unger was 3 for 3.

Triad also lost to Marysville, 12-2.

In that game, Holycross had a double, Trevor Instine was 2 for 2 and McIntyre had a double.

Triad (13-3) hosts Cedarville on Monday.

Triad softball swept

Granville beat Triad, 6-2, and Girard beat Triad, 5-0, in non-league softball on Saturday.

Against Granville for THS, Abby Ehrenborg was 2 for 3 with a double and Brianna Eaton was 2 for 3.

Against Girard, the Cardinals were held to a single hit in the game.

Triad (10-6) plays at home versus Cedarville on Monday.

Cards soar over Indians

Triad defeated Mechanicsburg, 12-3, in OHC baseball on Friday, in what was a continuation of a rain-delayed game from Thursday.

Dalton Holycross hit a home run, Trent McIntyre had 2 RBI and Tim Marsalis was 2 for 3 for Triad. Derek McCall was 2 for 3 with 2 RBI and Isaiah Bruce had 2 RBI.

For M’burg, Caleb Newsome and Drew Myers each doubled.

Tigers lose to Raiders

Benjamin Logan beat West Liberty-Salem, 8-6, in non-league baseball as the Tigers committed 10 errors and allowed 7 unearned runs.

Thomas Allen was 2 for 4 with 3 RBI and was the losing pitcher in a complete-game effort that saw him give up 6 hits and strike out 7.

WL-S (8-7, 5-4 OHC) hosts Greeneview on Monday.

WL-S softball wins

West Liberty-Salem beat Benjamin Logan, 4-3, in non-league softball on Saturday.

For WL-S, Kelsey Day was 2 for 4 with a home run, Kylie Gilroy was 3 for 3 and scored the game-winning run on Mady Stratton’s sacrifice fly in the bottom of the 7th inning.

Tigers jayvee baseball wins

WL-S beat Ben Logan 14-3 and 18-7 in jayvee baseball.

In the first game, Zech Wilcox had 2 RBI, while Jacob Vanhorn, Cayden Whitman and Ian Clark each knocked in a run.

In the second game, Tyler Jones was 3 for 4 with a double and 4 runs scored and Tanner Workman had a double, 3 RBI and scored 4 runs. Wilcox had a double, 7 RBI and 3 runs scored and Clark had 3 RBI.

WL-S jayvee softball loses

Benjamin Logan defeated West Liberty-Salem 13-11 in extra innings of jayvee softball on Saturday.

Olivia Milliron and Tory Cordell each had 3 hits, including doubles. Laura Neer, Laine Godwin and Abby Dillon each had 2 hits.

UHS tennis wins

Urbana beat Greeneview, 4-1, in non-league boys tennis.

UHS’s only loss came at third singles.

Urbana is now 8-0 overall.

Strike out cancer

The Legacy Strongheart Foundation is teaming up with the Triad High School softball team to host a Strike Out Cancer game. The game will be held at Triad on Tuesday, May 3 at 5 p.m. against Mechanicsburg.
