Triad’s Instine tosses no-hitter vs. Ridgemont

Triad’s Trevor Instine threw a no-hitter as the Cardinals beat Ridgemont 10-0 in six innings of non-league baseball on Wednesday.

Instine walked one man and picked him off the basepaths, while also going 2-for-3 at the plate.

Trent McIntyre was 2-for-4 with a double, Isaiah Bruce had 2 RBI, Briley Harlan was 4-for-4 with a double and 2 RBI and Alec Ober was 2-for-3 with a double and 2 RBI.

Triad (6-1) plays at Troy today.

Urbana baseball drops pair

Bellefontaine defeated Urbana, 15-0, in a CBC non-divisional baseball game on Wednesday.

The Hillclimbers mustered just three hits, with Reid Taylor going 1-for-2, Trenton Dunham going 1-for-2 and Caleb Peterson going 1-for-3 with a double.

Graham defeated Urbana, 5-4, in CBC/MRD baseball on Tuesday at the Dayton Dragons’ 5/3 Field.

For Graham, Josh Lewis was 1-for-3 with 3 RBI.

For Urbana, Kaleb Bowdle was 3-for-4, Caleb Peterson was 2-for-3 with a pair of RBI and Seth Mangus was 2-for-4 with 2 RBI. Peterson and Skyler Reisinger each doubled.

Falcons win

Graham defeated Tecumseh 4-3 in CBC non-divisional softball Wednesday.

Madison Bryant was 2-for-4 with a triple, Adrianna Hicks was 2-for-4 with an RBI, Melany Robbins was 1-for-3 with a double and an RBI, Allie Neeld was 1-for-1 with an RBI and Mallory Roberts had a walk-off RBI single.

Graham (7-0, 5-0) plays on the road at Stebbins today.

Tigers softball falls

Northeastern defeated West Liberty-Salem, 6-3, in OHC softball on Wednesday.

Olivia Ames was 2-for-3 with a double and 2 RBI for WL-S, while Emily Schultz was 1-for-3.

In Tuesday’s 16-3 jayvee victory over Triad, Maddie Estes hit a grand slam and recorded three hits with 5 RBI to lead the WL-S attack.

WL-S baseball loses

Northeastern beat WL-S, 3-0, in OHC baseball on Wednesday.

For the Tigers (3-5, 2-3), Brandon Upton was 2 for 3 and Levi Moell and Dillon Callicoat each had hits.

UHS prevails in softball

Urbana defeated Bellefontaine, 6-1, on Wednesday in CBC non-divisional softball.

For the Chieftains, Malie Moyer was 1 for 3 with 2 RBI, Kaylee Moffitt was 2 for 3, Katy Curnutte was 1 for 3 with 2 runs scored and Cassidy James was 2 for 4.

Hannah Alvoid pitched a complete game with 8 strikeouts and no walks.

Urbana plays at Tecumseh on Thursday.

Mechanicsburg wins quad

Mechanicsburg’s girls track team won a quad meet at Southeastern on Tuesday. The boys took second.

For the girls, Sydney Hux took first in the shot put, Shannon Barch was second and Heather Miller was third.

Barch and Hux placed in the discus.

Trent Fuller threw 126-06 to finish fourth in the discus.

WL-S wins track meet

West Liberty-Salem hosted a six team track and field meet Tuesday evening at Tiger Stadium. The Lady Tigers won the meet with 186 points.

Seniors Caylee Karg and Morgan Freyhof led the Lady Tigers with two individual first places and two relay first places. Karg won the 100 meter hurdles (17.53) and 300 meter hurdles (49.59) and Freyhof won the 100 meter dash (13.08) and 200 meter dash (27.40). Also placing first for WL-S were Janie Kopus in the pole vault (8-6), Katie Hartsel in the 1,600 meter run (6:03.07), Reghan Bieleski in the 800 meter run (2:30.30), the 4×800 relay team of Bieleski, Hartsel, Leah Cole and Kaylee Harrison (10:17.57), the 4×200 relay team of Freyhof, Karg, Kopus and Taylor Lauck (1:53.61) and the 4×400 relay team of Karg, Cole, Freyhof and Kopus (4:17.00).

The boys squad finished third with 96.5 points, behind first-place Greeneview (151.5).

Joey Adams won the 800 (2:14) and 1,600 (4:53). Brandon Wolfe won the long jump (18-4) and was fifth in the 100.

Placing second were Konner Smith (pole vault, 8-0) and Nick Williams (3200, 10:52). Earning third were Charlie Williams (discus, 105-7.5), the 4×200 team and the 4×100 team.

WL-S competes at the Graham Invitational on Friday.
