On Monday, May 30, 2016, before the Memorial Day Service at Oak Dale Cemetery, a little girl would look up and if she recognized the person as a veteran, she would give them a small blue and red crayon colored flag cut from paper. When opened, it had inside in her little girl printing, “thank you for serving our country, love Elena.” She was accompanied by her mother. On behalf of all the service men and women who received this wonderful gift, “Thank you Elena” for being so thoughtful to remember our veterans on such a special Memorial Day.
